Talent Alone Is Not a Recruiting Strategy

College coaches recruit more than raw ability. They evaluate athletic tools, performance, projection, academics, character, positional fit, and roster needs.

Many players work hard but still lack:

  • An honest understanding of their current level

  • A development plan tied to measurable weaknesses

  • Professional video and verified performance data

  • A realistic list of target schools

  • Consistent communication with college coaches

  • Someone who understands how to advocate for them

80 Scale Prospects Recruiting Agency brings those pieces together; we have helped athletes turn potential into opportunity by combining individualized development with a disciplined recruiting strategy.

Our team evaluates each player’s abilities, goals, and academic profile, builds a personalized roadmap, and guides the athlete and family through every stage-from development and promotion to college outreach and recruitment.

Player Development • Recruiting • Leadership

Gerardo Cáceres, known throughout the baseball community as “Coach G,” is a former professional baseball player, player-development coach, recruiting advisor, and baseball executive with extensive experience helping athletes develop their abilities and navigate the college recruiting process.

Education + Business Leadership

Coach G combines his baseball background with formal education in business, leadership, and the sports industry. He earned a Master of Professional Studies in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Marshall University, with concentrations in Business Management and International Business and minors in Economics and Marketing. He also completed Executive Education at the MIT Sloan School of Management, earning a certificate in Mastering Negotiation and Influence.

This combination of baseball experience and business education influences how he approaches recruiting: strategically, transparently, and with a long-term plan for each athlete.

From Player to Player Developer

After competing at the collegiate and professional levels, Coach G transitioned into player development with a commitment to helping athletes maximize their potential both on and off the field. Throughout his coaching career, he has worked with players ranging from developing youth and high school athletes to collegiate prospects and professional players. His experience includes developing and providing offseason training for MLB and MiLB players and prospects, including: James Wood, Trey Lipscomb, Nasim Nuñez, James Triantos, Luis García Jr., Dalen Lile, Owen Hull, Vance Honeycutt, and others. That experience has shaped his understanding of what separates talented players from players who are truly prepared for the next level: consistent development, measurable progress, discipline, the right exposure, and a clear long-term strategy.

Recruiting Experience

Coach G has helped more than 70 student-athletes earn opportunities to continue their baseball careers at the collegiate level, including placements across the SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, NCAA Division I, II and III, and NJCAA programs. His recruiting approach extends beyond simply sending videos or recommending showcases. It combines player evaluation, development, measurable data, video, digital marketing, direct communication with college coaches, academic considerations, and family guidance into one coordinated recruiting strategy. Through years of operating baseball organizations and building relationships within the college baseball community, Coach G has developed a network designed to connect qualified student-athletes with programs that fit their ability, academics, goals, and long-term development.
